Author of the ‘Frame-wise and otherwise’ article, WW Linnell Fearn, believed that when it came to spectacles frames, opticians fell into three groups – those who viewed them as a device to suspend lenses from, those who thought they were things of beauty and those who viewed them as something they had to dispense in fair quantity to make a living.
