Optical patients have marginally more confidence in their eye care practitioner than their GP or dentist, according to a new study commissioned by the General Optical Council.
A telephone survey conducted among 2,250 adults released by research firm Comres last week found that 92 per cent of patients were either fairly or very confident in their opticians, compared with 87 per cent for GPs and dentists. Ninety four per cent were confident in pharmacists.
The findings were presented to GOC members during a council meeting in London last week.
Following the eye appointment, the vast majority of the general public – 96 per cent – were either fairly satisfied or very satisfied with their experience.
