Living in a temperate climate, it is easy to forget that while Britain is relatively warm, we get cold snaps and extended periods of what is often termed ‘adverse weather’. Sometimes, that materialises as flooding, other times it appears as deep snow, and if it is neither of these conditions, it could mean a case of leaves on the line.
Our weather can make it hard for employees to get to work due to travel disruption. But regardless of the cause of non-attendance, employers can be left in a bind, unsure how to deal with employees in this situation.
