In focus: Preparation for National Eye Health Week

Zoe Wickens asked independent practices how they were promoting the annual eye health awareness week and whether they thought it was a worthwhile exercise

National Eye Health Week (NEHW) will take place from September 23 to 29, and will onc again raise awareness of the importance of good eye health and the need for the public to have regular eye examinations.

Organised by Vision Matters, the initiative has a website that eye care professionals can visit to download resources for their practices and information for businesses and organisations that may also want to get involved. But does more need to be done to ensure awareness and engagement is high among those on the front line of retail optics?

Zoe Winslow-Morten, optical assistant at Frost Borneo Opticians in Henley-on-Thames, said that the team ‘certainly recognise NEHW, mainly through social media activity.’
