Alison Ewbank hears what UK practitioners have to say about the Vision Care Institute in Prague

Vision Care InstituteIs your personality blue, red, green or yellow? Not the usual question you might expect to be asked on a contact lens CET course, but an excellent ice-breaker for one of the first groups of UK practitioners to visit The Vision Care Institute in Prague.

Europe's first Vision Care Institute opened a year ago this week and more than 2,000 practitioners from 20 countries have already passed through its doors. Johnson & Johnson now has seven of these educational institutes around the world, since launching the concept in the US three years ago.

Each course held at the institute is tailored to the needs of individual countries and is usually delivered in delegates' native language. The content of the current two-day course has evolved based on feedback from participants, educators and key opinion leaders. The first day covers communication - from body language to questioning techniques - while the second has a more clinical emphasis, covering slit-lamp techniques, grading of complications and toric lens fitting.
