Professor Nizar Hirji enthuses about his recent visit to the Southeastern Educational Congress of Optometry in Atlanta

Held in Atlanta, Georgia, SECO International 2009 was more than just a continuing education congress. SECO has proved year after year why it is the meeting for optometrists, opticians, ophthalmic technicians, paraoptometrics and other eye care professionals. And this year was no different. There were more than 140 hours of continuing education (CE) available for OOs and 200 hours of CE geared to allied ophthalmic professionals. Education included special sessions, hourly lectures, hands-on workshops, certification reviews and joint education for the entire practice staff.

With the support of leading companies, SECO 2009 offered 17 hours of free special sessions for all. There were 167 educational courses for ophthalmic professionals, with 117 of these offered at no charge. From basic education to hands-on workshops and certification reviews, delegates had the opportunity to expand their skills or simply sharpen them.
