No matter how young or hip the staff of an optical practice are, it is safe to say that relating to children can be a daunting prospect. A problem can be that children do not take kindly to finding out they need to wear glasses, so trying to provide the best styles of frames and make it entertaining can be important in helping them accept their eyewear and eye care. It is certainly worth making the effort in this area as the potential rewards are sizable.
'The main benefit of attracting kids to a practice is that it gets their parents through the door too,' says Dinesh Patel, owner of Eye 2 Eye Opticians in Harrow. 'Once the kids are set on your practice it is only a matter of time until their parents come for their own needs too.
