Despite the current economic climate, the optical market has enjoyed a good end to 2010, with the fourth quarter up by 3.7 per cent in value terms, year-on-year. All the sectors audited by GfK have witnessed a year-on-year growth in value:

The largest sectors are spectacle frames and contact lenses, by some margin; they account respectively for 59 per cent and 34 per cent of the market in value. CLs have been increasing market share steadily, moving from 25.6 per cent in 2007 to 34 per cent in the last quarter of 2010.
