Harvey suggested that this was unfortunately a very common experience. The reason, therefore, for gathering the various professionals to the table was to establish, firstly, how dry eye problems impacted their typical working lives. Having established this, it was proposed that the discussion should try to pin down a definition of the condition, discuss attitudes to diagnosis and treatment, and consider any future developments, either relating to specific treatment or investigative tools, or changes to the way treatment is made available to patients.
