A panel of professionals with varying interests in the management of dry eye met in London recently. The Optician roundtable discussion highlighted the need for better inter-professional relations and for a more focused approach to diagnosis and treatment

Harvey suggested that this was unfortunately a very common experience. The reason, therefore, for gathering the various professionals to the table was to establish, firstly, how dry eye problems impacted their typical working lives. Having established this, it was proposed that the discussion should try to pin down a definition of the condition, discuss attitudes to diagnosis and treatment, and consider any future developments, either relating to specific treatment or investigative tools, or changes to the way treatment is made available to patients.
