Last month Market Monitor (29.04.16) showed a whopping 72% of practices reporting turnover up month on month and this figure remained buoyant at 66% in our most recent survey. The year on year comparison on the same metric moved in the opposite direction increasing from a respectable 62% to close on 67%. The message on eye exams was a little less clear. While the picture is still positive, 50.5% who saw the number of exams rise month on month, this was not as buoyant as the 56% who saw that trend in the last Market Monitor. The year on year figure for the same metric was down from 55.4% to 51.8%, still positive but not quite as strong as in the last monitor. As the period under review took in both Easter, a bank holiday and some pretty grim weather others factors may have been at play.
