The month brought a mixed bag of results for practitioners. Many contributors stated that it was the best month for a long time, and others were still feeling the pinch. The results overall still show a decline generally in eye examination numbers, volume of dispensing and new contact lens fits, and these in turn mean a fall in total turnover. However, most benchmarks, with the exception of bifocal lenses and total eye examinations at present, look as though they have turned the corner, with average figures over recent months showing even or better results than for the start of 2009, ie not declining further.
