  • CooperVision: MyDay daily disposable multifocal

CooperVision says an evolution in lens design and fitting approach built into a high-performance one-day lens makes the new MyDay daily disposable multifocal easy to fit, easy to establish and easy to optimise. The CooperVision Binocular Progressive System uses different lens designs to optimise vision for all levels of presbyopia. The company also notes that a 98% successful fit is achieved with two pairs of lenses or fewer, when following the fitting guide or OptiExpert app. According to the company, the lens is available in the greatest parameter range of any one-day multifocal contact lens with a power range from -12.00 to +8.00DS across Low, Med and High ADDs. The lens is built using the same material technology as Biofinity.

  • Safilens: Fusion Presbyo 1-day

According to Safilens, Fusion Presbyo 1-day is the only disposable contact lens with the company’s patented afocal design for reducing the effects of presbyopia. This innovative lens design is said to give an exceptional extended depth of field to the wearer leading to clear images at all distances. Additionally the lens benefits from a smooth surface, natural, quick and constant stabilisation, and Safilens’ fusion technology. This technology involves the synergistic actions of hyaluronic acid and tamarind seed polysaccharide normalising and keeping the physiological relation between the tear film and ocular surface stable, and aims to give wearers more natural, longer-lasting comfort.

  • SnergEyes: iD

Promoted as the next generation of hybrid contact lenses, SynergEyes iD are described as a breakthrough in contact lens design for people with astigmatism, presbyopia, hyperopia or myopia. The new contact lens includes a multifocal that is powered by a proprietary Extended Depth of Focus design from the Brien Holden Vision Institute, with proven multifocal optics providing patients with a clear visual experience that transitions smoothly through all distances. SynergEyes says the iD hybrid lenses are individually designed to each patient’s unique ocular measurements utilising keratometry and horizontal visible iris diameter readings, plus refraction, to personalise precise lens parameters. A patient’s unique corneal diameter and curvature drive the specific lens design, with new skirts following the linear shape of the sclera so there is no need to choose between fixed skirt or base curve options.

  • VTI: NaturalVue

NaturalVue 1-Day Multifocal from VTI is available from Positive Impact. CE approved for both presbyopia and myopia control, the lens uses patented centre-distance optics and, inspired by advanced camera optics, the design allows for an extended depth of focus (EDOF). The NaturalVue design utilises a smooth, rapidly increasing, highly aspheric power curve that causes blur in the peripheral retina creating a virtual aperture. This creates an EDOF where distance, intermediate and near vision are all in focus at once. NaturalVue can be more simply considered as a single-vision lens and is fitted as such, resulting in high first-fit success.
