At present, there is no standardised approach to the management of young pre-myopic1 and myopic patients in clinical practice despite several position papers having been published.2, 3 Furthermore, access to the various myopia control methods differs with location4.
A survey published in 20205 explored the practice patterns of paediatric ophthalmologists across the world (n=794), finding treatment rates varied significantly with location (mean 57%, range 39% to 89%)5.
Surveys conducted in 2015 and 2019 demonstrated the increasing myopia prevalence to cause a high level of concern amongst eye care professionals and a self-reported high level of engagement in myopia control4, 6.
