Opti Munich report: German engineering

Five years ago, Opti Munich organisers, GHM introduced the Opti Boxes, a group of small stands where start-up brands could showcase their new ideas and designs, before graduating to the main eyewear halls.

German brand You Mawo is probably one of the best examples of Opti Box alumni. The brand began by showing off an early version of its tablet-based scanning system for custom 3D printed eyewear just over three years ago. But unlike many firms at the time that showcased similar complex systems, You Mawo has showed not only the staying power to bring product to market, but to develop it.
