The UK’s leading practitioners gathered at the Optician Awards 2015 and saw ‘myth-busting’ managing director Ian Cameron of Cameron Optometry Ltd recognised by his peers as the Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year.
Cameron Optometry, a family business that has evolved over half a decade into Scotland’s largest independent optometrist, triumphed over other candidates working for other shortlisted practices: Specsavers Nottingham, Chelmsley Wood, Icontact Ltd and Leightons Opticians.
‘I was up against some other great practitioners,’ stated Cameron, ‘there was probably nothing much to separate us so it’s a real honour to be given the nod. I was proud to be associated with an event of that calibre.’
Regarded in the field for ‘myth-busting’ Cameron, who holds diplomas in CL Practice and Independent Therapeutic Prescribing, lectures on all aspects of optometry from retinal pathology to CL materials.
In his hospital work Cameron deals with cases including aphakic lenses for babies, cosmetic lenses and custom moulded prosthetic shells, as well as keratoconus and other complex fittings.
