Winning an Optician Award is the highlight of many optical careers. The race is now on to find out who will triumph in 2018. Optician editor Chris Bennett explains how the entry process is taking shape

Entries are now being welcomed for the 2018 Optician Awards through www.optician awards.com with new categories, new sponsors and a busy programme planned in the run up to the presentation next April.

Eighteen categories are up for grabs encompassing all areas of practice, the profession and product types. Among the new categories for 2018 are the Leader of the Future award sponsored by Leightons Opticians, the Practice Growth Award, sponsored by A+E+L Markhams and the Children’s Contact Lens Practice of the Year sponsored by Coopervision.

Entries close in mid-January so start thinking now about which awards you would like to enter. Putting forward your entry is free and all of the details can be found on the awards website. Judging is carried out by panels of experts in early February so all entries will be carefully considered and discussed and winners chosen on the merit of the information provided.
