A stable August revealed moderate increases when compared to July, while sales per eye examination remain high

Total sight tests were up by 5 per cent on last month - the numbers are on par with those of last August. The overall trend for August 2005 to August 2006 is still down, but where it has been -5 per cent for several months, it is now -4 per cent.

The number of NHS tests as a percentage of total eye examinations remained consistent at 69 per cent. This increased on average for the whole sample from around 63 per cent, when Scotland reintroduced free eye examinations.
