Which direction are salaries heading for optometrists and dispensing opticians?

In general salaries have been fairly stable over recent years, although we have started to see practices paying more in order to attract and retain quality staff. Salaries for optometrists and dispensing opticians are very much dependent on experience, location and supply and demand.

How can ECPs maximise their earnings potential?

To maximise earnings candidates can look at roles which will offer them more responsibility or that offer attractive bonus schemes. These types of roles will be within the more commercial practices but there are opportunities for more clinically focused staff to conduct further clinical training where some practices will offer premium salaries for roles that focus on providing a wider range of clinical services. Positions in hard to fill areas or with longer working hours will offer higher salaries to attract candidates to the area.
