Optometrist of the Year

Optician Awards
A special award for an outstanding optometrist. Jonathan Cohen says winning has been very beneficial for motivating staff and marketing his business

Engaging with the local community and serving patients of all ages may not be achievements expected when practising in a city centre location. But that's exactly what the judges commended in awarding Jonathan Cohen the title Optometrist of the Year.

In July 2006, Cohen opened the Kings Cross Eye Clinic in one of London's busiest and most vibrant neighbourhoods, just metres from the Kings Cross and St Pancras rail terminals. The following year he took over Zack Contact Lenses in nearby Warren Street, merging the two companies to form Zacks London Eye Clinics group.

Founded by Maurice Zack in 1968, Zacks has an illustrious history. The business incorporates W Johnson's Opticians, established in 1801, which held a Royal Warrant for the supply of spectacles to Queen Victoria and displayed the first bifocal lenses for general prescribing at the 1851 Great Exhibition.
