However, post April 2013 - when primary care trusts (PCTs) no longer exist - not only will it be vital for LOCs to be able to demonstrate that all proposals for community eye care services are cost efficient and patient centred, but it will also be pivotal that new services do not require administration support from the CCG. In other words, we can't expect the NHS to collect the data or audit the local enhanced services or community eye care services we are asking them to commission.
