Scotland is pressing ahead with electronic GOS claims despite only a handful being ready, in a move expected to speed up payments and improve access to data.

The Scottish health service’s Practitioner Services Division (PSD) is setting an end date for the submission of paper claims for GOS fees and imposing a charge to handle paper claims in the interim.

While some have been caught off guard by the rollout, Caledonia is leading the way in public eye health as practitioners in England continue to do battle with Capita over GOS claims.

It is another example of an enviable health service north of the border, where GP practices have been instructed to rebound patients with eye complaints to optometry.
