Racing away with Daytona

Bill Harvey finds much to recommend in ultrawidefield ophthalmoscopy for routine assessment in optometric practice

There has been much written in this journal about the various scanning laser wide field ophthalomoscopy systems in use over the years. The introduction of the Daytona imaging system has provided UK practitioners not only with an ergonomically appealing instrument, but one which is able to capture excellent resolution images of a large field of retina in undilated patients and in sufficient detail for useful clinical assessment. I have been keen to try the instrument out so at the end of last year finally got my hands on one for a couple iof days. A few of the images taken during that session are displayed here.
