I have a practice in the heart of Manchester and we have recently had some trendy neighbours move in a few doors down. They have caused no end of confusion so far. It is a Google shop.

People walk past and do a double-take because they thought Google was a search engine. Actually they call it a ‘Google Digital Garage’ and offer free face-to-face coaching for anyone to improve their digital skills. In a write up in Manchester Evening News Google says it believes ‘digital skills are becoming increasingly important in this fast-changing world’. I find it mildly amusing though. There is so much buzz around everything being digital these days, with people pronouncing the death of all things analogue, that most of us miss what is staring us in the face.
