Bill Harvey reports on two patients where access to an OCT instrument have helped decide upon the management
Case 1
Patient A is a 54-year-old male who for some years has had intraocular pressures measured at between 22 and 26mmHg. His optic discs are shown in Figures 1 and 2. It can be seen that there is significant cupping but the neuroretinal rims 'obey ISNT' in that they are thickest inferiorly and thinnest temporally and are also of an even hue. There appears to be some excavation of the cup superiorly (note how the vessels curve under the lip of the cup) and the lamina cribrosa is clear on the left disc. Full threshold fields are unremarkable.
