Emma White previews Safilo’s autumn/winter frames, ranging from sports-inspired sunglass and graduated lenses to over-sized shapes and sustainable materials
Flaglab 17 collection in white/gold with blue shaded lenses

Carrera

Racing-inspired Flaglab 17, a bold, unconventional and oversized acetate sunglass, features distinctive temples with round cut-out details, giving the appearance of vintage cars’ steering and conveying Carrera’s sport and fashion roots. A standout Carrera logo is prominently positioned and visible on the front. Colour options include white/gold with blue shaded lenses, orange/gold with grey shaded lenses, and black/gold with brown shaded anti-reflex lenses.

 

Caroline Herrera

Lightweight sunglass and optical styles in the Stardust range feature a crystal embellishment and a metal button with the CH monogram logo on flat metal temples.

Glamorous and vintage-inspired cat’s eye sunglass HER0262/S in acetate (pictured), is decorated by a dual-section crystal fabric embellishment on the temples and comes in a selection of colours, including pink Havana with brown shaded lenses, opal cyclamen with brown shaded lenses, Havana with brown shaded lenses and black with dark grey shaded lenses.

 

Boss

Composed of bio-based and recycled materials, or in Acetate Renew combined with metal, Boss’s Signature collection features lenses made of bio-based nylon or Tritan Renew recycled plastic. Bold sunglass and optical styles are offered in solid colours or in double-layer combinations and transparent horn effects, accented with the signature Boss stripes in metal (style Boss 1718S).

The Light optical and sunglass collection, meanwhile, features extra-slim and lightweight designs, including two styles with clip-on polarized lenses – style Boss 1725GCS (pictured).

 

Etro

Etro’s bold, yet lightweight acetate sunglass and optical styles in the New Tailoring collection are paired with metal temple fronts and logos engraved on the external sides, while end tips feature a geometric symmetry. Etro 0051/G/S sunglasses features a modern flat-top shape in acetate and metal, offered in brown horn with gold temples and blue lenses, black with dark ruthenium sides and grey lenses, grey horn with ruthenium temples and green lenses.

Optical Etro 0053, (pictured) features amodern pilot shape in acetate and metal, offered in horn with ruthenium sides, black with gold arms or Havana with gold temples.

 

Marc Jacobs

J Marc sunglasses and optical frames are embellished by a bold logo, proudly positioned on high temples. Optical style Marc 766 features a generous squared shape in acetate and is availablein black, Havana, burgundy and transparent green. Logo sunglasses are decorated either with the distinctive bold logo on the high temples or with a minimal version of the logo, interpreted as a metal foil sticker lettering logo on slim temples.

Marc 797/S sunglass (pictured), features a narrow cat’s eye shape in acetate with crystals all over the front and grey lenses.

 

Isabel Marrant

The lightweight ‘In Love’ collection was said to reflect the casual attitude of the Parisian Isabel Marrant brand, spiced up by pop colour combinations and vibrant translucent tones, contrasted with colourful metal wire cores. IM 0194, a faceted oval sunglass in acetate, features the Isabel Marant logo on the left temple and silver metal trim on the front.

Available in ivory with violet lenses (pictured), burgundy with burgundy shaded lenses, Havana with brown lenses or black with grey lenses.

 

Eyewear by David Beckham

Exquisite craftsmanship, high quality materials and a subtle masculine design with distinctive details were said to characterise the autumn/winter 2024 collection from Eyewear by David Beckham. Contemporary squared sunglass DB 7127/S, a flat shape in acetate, is suitable for graduated lenses and has an ‘unexpected lightweight feeling’.

Ultralight slim acetate optical DB 1160 (pictured in honey colour) is designed for graduated ophthalmic lenses and features a key-shaped nose bridge, plus lightweight temples. Available at dswoptical.com.
