With the start of the UK’s biggest promotion of vision and eye health just around the corner, organisers are urging the optical profession to get involved in National Eye Health Week (NEHW) and use it as a platform to promote the role eye care practitioners play in keeping Britain healthy.
David Cartwright, chair of Eye Health UK, the charity responsible for organising NEHW campaign explains: ‘NEHW provides a unique opportunity for everyone involved in optics to join forces and inspire people to take positive steps to keep their eyes healthy and prevent avoidable sight loss.’
Key to this will be highlighting why regular eye examinations are vital for all, the extended range of services now available at many high street practices and how lifestyle choices can affect eye health. This year’s campaign, which takes place between September 23-29, will again focus on a different theme each day of the week (table 1).
