Shared agreement for post-op cataract care signed

Grimsby primary eye care company signs shared care agreement for post-operative cataract services

Grimsby's primary eye care company has become the first to sign a shared care agreement for post-operative cataract services with community care provider Newmedica.

It will seek to improve continuity of care for NHS patients through follow-up visits to their optometrists and after guidance from Newmedica eye health clinic and surgical centre in Grimsby. This would also serve to reduce the burden on hospitals for post-operative care and make visits more convenient for patients. Around 15 practices have joined the scheme so far, with more expected to follow.

Newmedica opened its fourth eye health clinic and surgical centre centre in Leeds last month, which provides ophthalmology services for NHS patients under the any qualified provider (AQP) scheme.
