Every practice has a Mrs McGibbon. Of course, not every practice will have a Mrs McGibbon specifically. But every practice will have a patient whose name produces a collective groan from the staff when mentioned.
Mrs McGibbon visited Oscar O’Neill’s practice at least once a week. Surrounded by an atmosphere all of her own, consisting mostly of alcohol vapour, she would demand that her spectacles required adjustment or repair.
Every visit would include her saying that she couldn’t understand why she was having so many problems with these glasses since she had never had any problems with her previous pairs.
