The vast majority of these will be trivial with no clinical long-term significance to the child's vision or health. Here, we present the case of a young child who initially presented with trivial wounds but later developed serious central nervous system manifestations. The case will highlight the need for a high index of suspicion and a low threshold for review or onward referral if there is any doubt about the presenting history.
