Weak performance continues with falls in total practice turnover, number of eye examinations and spectacles dispensed
Total practice turnover is 6 per cent lower than last month, now at 160 Index points, which is a decrease of 9 per cent on last July's figure and the lowest value since December last year. Over the past four years the turnover figures for July have been lower than June but this is the largest monthly fall. This could possibly be explained by the distractions caused by the Olympics but this would have only affected the last few days of the month.
Turnover per eye examination has remained the same as last month at £153.50, an £8 fall on July 2011.
