End-of-day comfort is still the biggest unmet need for many contact lens wearers. Data from the end of 2006 suggested that in addition to those wearing contact lenses, about 4 per cent of the UK adult population have previously worn contact lenses, but have since stopped.1
Recent European data shows that 47 per cent of contact lens wear drop-out is due to lack of comfort during and at the end of the day.2 Comfort drops are one strategy to alleviate discomfort. However, while there are short-term benefits, there are no significant long-lasting comfort effects.
