In our previous article we looked at how a typical day in the life of a domiciliary optometrist can be both challenging and rewarding. As the average age of the population is increasing, a greater number of eye care professionals are likely to enter this field.

In this article we will explore the types of equipment available and how it can be best utilised to provide patients with a high level of clinical care and service. Some of the equipment discussed is required by the NHS Additional Services contract, other items and advice are my own personal preferences based on over ten year’s experience at The Outside Clinic conducting domiciliary eye examinations.1
