This year's event showcased a colourful array of new acetate and combination frame designs

January’s opti Munich wasn’t just about lightweight and high-tech metal frame launches as a colourful array of new acetate and combination designs was also to the fore.

Confidence in the use of colour was evident around the show, with combinations in acetates as well as punk and new wave influences. Updated cat’s eye styles for women remain popular and men were also given a chance to express themselves colour-wise.

A case in point was Götti, with the Swiss company offering exactly the same colours for men as women in the newly launched sunglass range of four models – Kosima, Kitty, Kashan and Kojak (two for men, two for women). The company describes the hand-polished acetate fronts as glamorous in orange, turquoise, purple, brown transparent, havana brown and black, with half mirror lenses. The men’s designs are the pilot-shaped Kojak and square Kashan, while Kosima is a butterfly shape and Kitty a large round shape. Speaking about the launch, design developer Thomas Frischknecht says: ‘They’re exactly the same colours for men and women. They’re not normally so colourful but for this sunglass they’re a little bit louder, combining fashion and technology.’
