World Sight Day 2023 focuses on the workplace

Lucy Patchett reports on the launch of IAPB’s World Sight Day campaign activities for 2023

The International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has launched its annual campaign in the lead up to World Sight Day on October 12, 2023, with its key theme, ‘Love your eyes at work’, focusing on eye health in the workplace.

Campaign activities included sector engagement, collaborative reports with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on eye health and the world of work, and with Deloitte on investments of government resources into eye health, as well as the eighth consecutive World Sight Day Photo Competition and meetings with business leaders worldwide.

Simon Darvill, director of communications, campaigns and events at IAPB, told Optician: ‘The World Sight Day ‘Love your eyes at work’ event is our global campaign for accessible, available and affordable eye care for everyone by 2030. World Sight Day is a part of the year-long Love Your Eyes campaign. It’s the public face of our 2030 Insight Sector Strategy, which supports the work of IAPB’s advocacy, knowledge and research activities.
