Sightsavers has received a funding boost with a £10,000 donation from Italian frame manufacturer De Rigo Vision.

The charity, which works to prevent and cure blindness in more than 30 developing countries, is also set to benefit from the launch of a limited edition Escada sunglass.

De Rigo Vision, which is the current licence holder of Escada eyewear, will launch the Escada Sightsavers edition sunglass to be sold in selected opticians and boutiques. Retailing at €249, with only 999 pieces produced, the black and white marbled frame will take its design inspiration from the 1970s.

Money raised from the sale of the sunglass will help the charity to support women in Mumbai who desperately need eye care to enable them to work and support their families. Sightsavers will also use the donation to help provide free eye care to some of the poorest people living in Mumbai's slums.
