A spokesperson for the Association said that the statement to parents was released due to an increase in interest as the story developed.
Speaking after the launch date of the 3DS, Karen Sparrow, AOP education adviser, said the close proximity of the device to the eyes could place more stress on a child's vision than looking at a TV set and the 3DS was more likely to be used for longer periods.
