ClearLab International, the UK and Singapore subsidiary of US giant 1-800 Contacts, launched its branded product range into the European and Asian markets at Mido today (May 7). The company, which has a base in Plymouth, expects to make significant progress in expanding its lenses into international markets over the next three years. In March the purchase of VisionTec enhanced the UK division's offer, and several of ClearLab UK personnel previously worked for Biocompatibles Hydron. ClearLab International president Graham Mullis Ð one-time Biocompatibles Hydron managing director Ð said: 'We intend to launch four new products this year and look forward to providing the optical market with a flexible world class alternative to their existing suppliers.' He also signalled an expansion of the manufacturing capacity of the group, from the current 130 million lenses a year. Mido saw the launch this morning of the group's 'clear' lenses manufactured from its TrueForm concept, with others in the range utilising a new proprietary technology developed for daily lenses.
