A fan of the plan

Having read the ins and outs of the new Eyeplan scheme, I am most impressed. Why is it that good ideas seem so obvious with hindsight? I feel we have all known for some time that &\#163;20 for a sight test and &\#163;120 for spectacles is not as sensible as &\#163;100 for an eye examination and &\#163;40 for spectacles. The problem has always been how to achieve the high VAT-free labour element and not lose patients. Eyeplan not only creates a tax advantage, but ties patients to the practice. Coupled with the insurances and direct-debit facility, I am sure patients and practitioners alike will benefit from using it. Richard Mansfield Somerset
