Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) launched its third annual Careers in Eyecare cross-sector initiative to raise the profile of the profession to young people, parents and careers advisors.
The campaign website, careersineyecare.org.uk, showcased career profiles and features detailing experiences from a range of professionals in the industry.
Sponsors included Specsavers, Stepper and Woodspeen Training, alongside partnerships with ABDO College, the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers and Youth Employment UK to enable increased outreach.
ABDO head of corporate development Nick Walsh said: ‘Award-winning Careers in Eyecare is all about raising awareness of great career opportunities in the eye care and eyewear industries. The future of these industries depends on upcoming new talent to keep them buoyant and fresh. Support from these great forward-thinking partners helps us to increase the range of help and resources that we can offer to students, teachers and careers advisers.’
