An apology has been made by the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) after its online assessment system experienced issues and an exam was cancelled.
ABDO highlighted that in order to progress students during the pandemic it had moved to online theoretical assessments, which work for year two exams on June 16.
However, it did not work for third year students the morning after despite efforts to restart and rectify the issues before a decision was made to cancel the exam.
Alicia Thompson, director of professional examinations at ABDO, said: ‘We wholeheartedly apologise for the upset and frustration caused by these technical issues. All students affected have been sent a communication. We will endeavour to have an alternative plan as soon as possible and this will be communicated within the next week.’
