ABDO highlights practitioner roles

It launched a new social media campaign, highlighting DO and CLO roles

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) launched a new social media campaign with the aim of highlighting the roles of dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians to existing and potential employers.

The campaign, which was launched at 100% Optical, was based on an ABDO research project that found dispensing opticians deliver a number of benefits to practices, including better clinical outcomes and customer service.

Antonia Chitty, head of communications at ABDO, said: ‘We’re excited to launch this new campaign highlighting the role of the dispensing optician and contact lens optician, encompassing all aspects of their professional and clinical skills, from paediatrics and low vision to practice management and leadership, as well as those roles such as treating acute eye conditions, which can be done with further training.’
