Four hundred eye care practitioners took part in the first live online webinar CET event organised by ABDO.
Delegates logged in via the ABDO website where they were introduced by ABDO president Peter Black to a lecture on ‘Public eye health’ by Professor Darren Shickle of Leeds University.
This included results of research into what limited the public’s access to eye care and how current changes to primary care might be influenced for the patient and the practitioner. Comment and questions were encouraged throughout and, as only a few could be addressed by the two presenters at the end of the session, the plan was to group these and respond to delegates in due course.
Michelle Derbyshire, head of operational services at ABDO College, was pleased with the success of the project. ‘We had well over 100 questions on the night and I hope many more will participate when we make it available on our website,’ she said.
