A deadline has passed on an Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) initiative asking members to gather evidence on illegal and poor quality dispensing.

In a letter to members in January, ABDO wrote: 'If a patient informs you that they suspect that an internet supplier or other unregistered seller may have committed a criminal offence by contravening one of the sections of the Opticians Act, or if in your opinion they have a valid complaint regarding the quality of products and service they have received, then please encourage them to report the matter.' It asked for all reports to be submitted by the end of April.
