Interested parties attending todayÕs meeting over the financial situation of Merseyside opticians AE Walsby will probably hear that the company is to be placed into liquidation. Liverpool-based accountant Parkin S Booth & Co and Manchester-based agents Robson Kay are acting on the companyÕs behalf.A spokeswoman for the accountant confirmed that after more than 40 years, the groupÕs 13 branches have shut. The company closed the doors of its practices last month. Eleven of these branches are located across Merseyside and there is one in Warrington, Cheshire and one in Preston, Lancashire. Advertisements for AE WalsbyÕs patient records, and its assets and equipment, have been published.According to The Liverpool Daily Post, consumers were not informed the practices were to close, and many arrived at the outlets only to find they were unable to collect spectacles and contact lenses they had already paid for. One said she later received a letter and vouchers saying the practice was unable to complete her order.
