Andrew Actman Eyewear is donating 50 frames to an optometrist and senior nurse from Wirral-based Arrowe Park Hospital's ophthalmology department to use during a charitable trip to Peru this month.
Optometrist Jasleen Jolly and her colleague, senior specialist nurse Joan Hughes, will join other volunteer medical staff to provide much needed healthcare to people in the country's remote Amazon villages.
International charity The Vine Trust is commissioning a ship for the team to travel along the famous river to help transform isolated village communities through sustainable solutions.
Jolly told regional newspaper Wirral Globe: 'This will be the first time I have gone abroad for professional voluntary work, which has been an ambition of mine for a long time. The people in these remote areas do not have regular access to medical care so we will be providing vision screening and cataract surgery. I have always been fascinated by Peru and the rich history so I am delighted at the prospect of visiting.'
