A further €100m is to be invested into the Limerick Acuvue contact lens manufacturing facility, creating 124 new jobs.
The announcement of the new investment coincided with the 10th anniversary of Acuvue contact lens manufacturing in Limerick.
The milestone was marked by a ceremony and lecture programme in front of an invited audience of practitioners.
The plant was originally set up in 1990 and the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, Vistakon Ireland, was established in 1996.
Since it started manufacture the plant has trebled in size to 470,000sq ft and employs some of the latest manufacturing technology to be found any where in the world. The plant currently employs 478 people.
