Optometrist Jill Gillanders, who works at Scrivens opticians in Malton, North Yorkshire, is travelling to Zambia to screen the sight of more than 2,000 students and teachers.
Gillanders, who first visited Zambia three years ago with sight charity Vision Aid Overseas, will spend a month in the country's southern province with optometrist Caroline Hemsworth, visiting eight rural schools.
Since she first visited the country in 2005, Gillanders has set up her own charity, School Twinning Friends (www.schooltwinningfriends.org) whch aims to encourage links between Zambian and British schools.
