AI eye care boom forecast

Analytics company GlobalData highlighted that artificial intelligence (AI) was increasingly important for eye care and was already improving several areas of healthcare.

Alexandra Murdoch, medical analyst at GlobalData, said: ‘There is so much potential for AI in healthcare and companies are starting to realise where to invest their time and money. AI in ophthalmology is important for so many reasons and could be a game changer for many.’

It highlighted Verena Health’s Qdata Geographic Atrophy, which provided data from 350,000 de-identified geographic atrophy patients and allowed it to identify diagnoses from records.

GlobalData forecasts the total AI market could be worth $383.3bn in 2030, up from $81.3bn in 2022.
