UK optometrists and other skilled healthcare professionals including doctors and dentists are being encouraged to start a new life in the Canadian state of Alberta by taking advantage of a fast-track immigration process.

The Government Office of Alberta is currently actively seeking to fill vacancies in virtually every healthcare profession and has simplified entry requirements to enable foreign workers to relocate to the state.

Under the Provincial Nominee Program, optometrists who secure work with an employer in Alberta can get fast-tracked through the immigration process. Instead of taking the usual two to five years to be processed, people who qualify through the Provincial Nominee Program can be processed for permanent residency in six to 18 months.
