Alcon and SightCare offer presbyopia training day

Alcon and SightCare to offer presbyopia training day to SightCare’s independent optical members

Alcon and SightCare have teamed up to offer a presbyopia training day to SightCare’s independent optical members.

Designed for optometrists and contact lens opticians, attendees can earn eight CET points by attending and dispensing opticians can earn five CET points. This educational event would be held at the Alcon Academy for Eyecare Excellence in Surrey on June 25.

Interactive lectures on presbyopia, and physiological and pathological ageing ocular changes are to be held in the morning. Afternoon workshops are to focus on mastering multifocals and getting inside cataract surgery. Dispensing opticians can take part in a peer discussion session on presbyopia, contact lenses and how these may vary for the individual patient.

John French, SightCare’s CEO said: ‘We are delighted to be invited to hold a regional workshop at the Alcon Academy of Eyecare Excellence. This will be a unique learning opportunity for SightCare members to enjoy hands-on interactive workshops and lectures.’

French added that contact lenses play a key role in the success of the independent practice. ‘This Presbyopia Day will enable practitioners to consider their patient communication around contact lens discussion, referral and treatment options and develop a more patient-centred communication approach.’

The event will run from 10am until 4.45pm.
